Wine, food and relaxation in Liguria
WINE - RIVIERA LIGURE DI PONENTE
The valleys of Imperia have an ancient tradition for wine and its uses. The local cuisine is preferably always accompanied by one of the wines of the area, to create a balanced harmony of aromas and flavors.
Among the finest wines of our area include Vermentino, pale yellow in color with a taste of fresh fruit, Mediterranean scrub and elderflower. It's present in 95% of our valleys.
Pigato comes from a grape queens of Liguria and it growns in the Imperia's valley, such as Val d'Arroscia Ranzo, Borghetto and Aquila, the Nervia Valley and the hills close to Diano Marina. It 'a full-bodied white, and you can recognize it by a pleasant bitter taste that reminds us of the bitter almond or the core of peach.
It 's important to mention the Rossese di Dolceacqua, from the name of the medieval stronghold of Doria. It 'a fruity red, with delicate hints of violets and berries with a slight final pleasantly bitter, usually vigorous and well-structured with a slight tannic vein.
Finally we note Ormeasco in types 'superiore', 'passito', 'passito liquoroso', 'Sciac-Trà'. It 'a wine with a ruby red color, the scent is fairly persistent, vinous and characteristic dry taste, pleasant, medium-bodied and with a characteristic bitterish mixed with notes of ripe cherry, blackberry and violet.
OLIO EXTRAVERGINE DI OLIVA - MONOCULTIVAR "TAGGIASCA"
Museo dell'Olivo (IM): The Museum is located in one of the most important olive oil cultivating and producing areas in the Mediterranean, the Western Ligurian Riviera at the northern edge of the region where olive trees thrive.
Olive groves are plentiful in the Western Riviera from the shoreline to the innermost valleys and the highest altitudes at which the tree can flower; they occupy literally every corner, every patch of earth, even the most inaccessible, thanks to the narrow terraced strips of land built over centuries along the sides of the hills (Liguria is 65% mountains, 35% hills). The Olive Tree Museum is open every day, except Sunday, from 9AM to 12:30 noon and from 3 to 6:30PM.
Admission is € 5,00.
